Trust & Safety

Your safety isn't a feature. It's the foundation.

Every part of Pahiram is built around trust — because peer-to-peer only works when people feel safe.

Our Promise

Our Commitment

Pahiram exists because Filipinos already trust each other enough to share. Our job is to protect that trust with technology, systems, and real human support.

We don’t take safety lightly. It’s not a checkbox — it’s the architecture of the platform. From the moment you sign up to the moment a rental ends, we’ve built layers of protection for both sides of every transaction.

Protection

How We Protect You

Multiple layers of security built into every transaction.

Identity Verification (KYC)

Every user who rents or lends must verify their identity with a valid Philippine government ID. We match your ID to a selfie, verify the document, and flag inconsistencies. Unverified users cannot transact.

Secure Payments with Escrow

Money doesn't go directly to the lender when you book. It's held in escrow by Pahiram until the rental is completed and both parties confirm the item was returned in good condition. This protects renters from no-shows and lenders from non-payment.

Bilateral Reviews

After every rental, both the renter and the lender leave reviews. These are visible on profiles and listings. You can see exactly who you're dealing with before committing to a transaction.

Dispute Resolution

When things go wrong — and sometimes they do — our team steps in. Both parties submit evidence, and we mediate a fair resolution. We handle damage claims, no-shows, misrepresented listings, and more.

In-Platform Communication

All communication happens through Pahiram's messaging system. This gives both parties a record and protects against off-platform scams. Never share personal contact details with someone you haven't transacted with.

Insurance-Ready

We're building partnerships with insurance providers to offer optional coverage on rentals. Protect your equipment or your rental with a simple add-on at checkout. Coming soon.

Renters

For Renters: Stay Safe

Tips to protect yourself when renting on Pahiram.

  • Check reviews and ratings. A lender with a strong track record is your best signal. Read recent reviews, not just the overall score.
  • Communicate through the platform.Keep all conversations in Pahiram’s messaging. This protects you if a dispute arises and ensures our support team can see the full context.
  • Inspect items at pickup.Take photos and note the condition in the app before you leave. If anything doesn’t match the listing, report it immediately.
  • Report anything suspicious.Off-platform payment requests, pressure to skip verification, listings that seem too good to be true — report them. We investigate every report.
  • Read the cancellation policy.Every listing has one. Know what you’re agreeing to before you book.

Lenders

For Lenders: Protect Your Equipment

Best practices for keeping your items safe on the platform.

  • Verify your renters. Only accept bookings from KYC-verified users. Check their profile, reviews, and rental history before accepting.
  • Document item condition. Take detailed photos before every handoff. Note any existing wear or damage in the app. This is your evidence if a dispute arises.
  • Use platform messaging only.Don’t share your personal number or social media with renters. If a renter asks to transact off-platform, report them.
  • Set clear terms. Your listing should clearly state operating requirements, return expectations, cancellation policy, and any restrictions. Clarity prevents disputes.
  • Require a deposit. For high-value items, set a security deposit. It’s held in escrow and gives you a safety net for minor damage.
