How We Use Cookies

Cookies help us make Pahiram work, remember your preferences, and improve your experience. Here's exactly what we use and why.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help the website recognize your device, remember your preferences, and understand how you interact with the site.

Similar technologies include web beacons (pixel tags), local storage, and session storage. When we say “cookies” in this policy, we mean all of these technologies.

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. This policy complies with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and NPC Advisory Opinion No. 2020-026 (and subsequent advisories) regarding the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies.

  • Analytics providers— for anonymized usage statistics.
  • Social media platforms— if you use social login or share features.
  • Advertising networks— if you have opted in to marketing cookies.

Each third party has its own privacy and cookie policy. We encourage you to review them.

4. How to Manage Cookies

4.1 Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit the Platform, a cookie consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies by category:

  • Accept All— enables all cookie categories.
  • Reject All— enables only essential cookies.
  • Customize— lets you choose which categories to enable.

You can change your preferences at any time through the cookie settings link in the Platform footer.

4.2 Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings:

  • Chrome:Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies
  • Firefox:Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari:Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and Website Data
  • Edge:Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions

Note: Blocking essential cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly.

4.3 Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. Currently, the Platform does not respond to DNT signals, but we honor your cookie consent preferences as described above.

5. Cookie Consent Under Philippine Law

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and guidance from the National Privacy Commission, we are required to:

  1. Inform you about the cookies we use and their purposes (this policy).
  2. Obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies on your device.
  3. Provide you with the ability to withdraw consent at any time.
  4. Keep records of consent given.

Essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the Platform to function do not require consent, as they are necessary for the performance of the service you have requested.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in technology, or changes in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Platform or via email.

If changes require renewed consent, we will reset your cookie preferences and ask for your consent again.
